How did he get in there?

I took some breaks painting to do sketches. On this page I was drelling on the mysterious decline of tropical frogs in the wile and I felt inspired to sketch a few and a bottle. I was in the mood for practicing color line drawing. and I was thinking of how  I could express my concerns over the frogs symbolically. The idea that they were in trouble and had to find a way to escape the disease/ fungi/ ? inspired an idea for a piece in which one would be trapped in a bottle with a nozzle obviously too small for him to squeeze through. It was one of those creative brainstorm journeys that are difficult to explain when it's over.
I also dribbled coffee by accident on the page and decided to outline a snail with two shells over it.

Progress

For my next independent study project I decided to create a watercolor painting of a still life of some shells in a crumbled up paper bag . Below are pencil sketches in progression: 9/14/109/17/10

I'm not sketching youuu >8) ha ok yes I am

Nothing like some good-ol' sibling bonding eh? My brother was far away in dream land when I decided to sit down and sketch him. He acknowledged my existence for a short moment before going  going back to sleep. My goal was to record his figure quickly and accurately on the first page so the markings are rough. I made the same attempt when I moved in to draw his face... I think he moved because his lips are a bit lopsided and the flaring nostrils aren't too appealing either. The bottom photograph is a mobile picture of him and my poo-bear keychain

Progress

The collage has evolved into an experiment to test a theory as to whether the thousands of pieces making up the simple shapes of the background will make any significant contrast with the more whole pieces that make up my person. How much does the texture of different elements affect the overall two-dimensional design?
One thing I've learned from this project so far: organization is essential. Also, newspaper print comes off very easily on your fingers if they're sticky with glue or just clammy.
